The community box maker unit project was about trying to find the best design that works for both companys. my group only had 4 designs to compare because of lack of attendance for some .
1. UPS 165 ; w=h+2
2.FedEx Express 130 ; w=h+2
Danielle Lund designs were
1. Fedex Express 130 ; w=h
2. UPS 165 ; w=h
To complete my charts i had to generalize the length , girth , width , height and volume .
Fedex express my design was w=h+2 therefore my width was x+2 ; my girth was 4x+4; my Length was (130 -4x) my volume was (126-4x)(x+2)(x) Next i found the maximum x=13.4397
y=11927.8
For my UPS chart my design was w=h+2 . my width was x+2 ; my girth was 4x+2 ; my length was ( 165 -(4x+4) ; my volume was (165-4x+4))(x+2)(x).
the maximum was x=20.682 , y=20299.29
To make sure my volume expression was correct i typed it into the " y=" part on the calculater
and then pressed 2nd , GRAPH , a table came up then i checked to make sure my voulumes were correct .
On Danielle's chart she used Fedex express her design was w=h . she found the width which was x ; her length was (130-4x) ; her girth was 4x ; the volume came out to be (130-4x)(x)(x).
i found the maximum x= 21.666 , y=20342.593
She also used UPS her design was w=h. he found the width which was x ; her length was (165-4x); her girth was 4x ; the volume came out to be (165-4x)(x)(x) . the maximum was x= 27.5
y=41593.75 .
After finding all of these calculations i concluded that as the number you use gets smaller the max & min get increases .
Honestly , I feel that this project would have been easier if you put us in better groups .
I was confused because everybody was on different parts of the project. I wasn't behind. But i got it done , even though it was EXHAUSTING & VERY STRESSFUL .

Very detailed post! Good job. Here are some comments.
ReplyDelete1. Your girth expressions do not match up with what you have for the girth portion in your volume expressions. For example, if your girth is (4x+x), then you volume should have started out with (130-(4x+x)) or (130-5x). I think you're writing your girth expressions from the first time when you came up with them, which you revised.
2. Need to explain a lot more on what you mean by "After finding all of these calculations i concluded that as the number you use gets smaller the max & min get increases."
Thanks . i meant 4x+4
